Each reader gets 3 minutes – Readings will be in A to Z by first name – A full day of poetry, food & camaraderie!

20th Annual Poetry Ink: 100 Poets Read – Brandywine Workshop, 728 S. Broad Streetsoniasanchez

A free, open, festive, participatory community event, a day of poetry, refreshments and camaraderie. We embrace the concept that Poetry is for everyone and takes many forms; therefore we invite academic poets, famous poets, free form poets, street poets, unknown poets, spoken word poets, published poets, unpublished poets and everyone else. Pre-registered poets will read for three minutes in alphabetical order by last name.

Special presentation by Philadelphia Poet Laureate Yolanda Wisher & Youth Poet Laureate David Jones at 2pm

Front CoverPoetry Ink: The 20th Anniversary Anthology will be released at this event. The Poetry Ink Anthology’s have usually been limited to those who are reading at the annual event but for the 20th Anniversary we are including poems poets who have read at Moonstone events over the last 30 years of Moonstone including such notable poets as John Balaban, Dennis Brutus, Rita Dove, Elaine Equi, Lamont Steptoe, E. Ethelbert Miller, Margaret Randall, Sonia Sanchez, Elaine Terranova, Afaa Weaver, Eleanor Wilner and others.

Runs concurrently with Poetry Ink at Brandywine Workshop 

Philly Loves Poetry in all its forms, from sonnets to haiku to spoken word and we invite everyone to join in. Poets who pre-registered will read in reverse alphabetical order by last name (Z to A) with each poet having 3 minutes (one long or two short poems) to present. Each 10 pre-registered poets will be followed by 3 open mic participants (who did not have the chance to pre-register) in the same alphabetical sequence.
