Liars Club Philly

THURSDAY, MAY 6, 7pm – LITERATURE
Liars Club with Leslie Banks, Dennis Tafoya, Greg Frost, Kelly Simmons, Solomon Jones, Merry Jones, and Jonathan McGoran (writing as D.H. Dublin)

L.A. Banks is the author of the Vampire Huntress Legend and Crimson Moon Series. She has a bachelor’s degree from the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School of Business and a master’s in fine arts from Temple University. Banks considers herself a shape-shifter. She has written romance, women’s fiction, crime and suspense, and of course, dark vampire huntress lore.

“Gregory Frost brings the charm of an ancient storyteller and the wit of a contemporary tale-spinner to this dramatic tale, effortlessly manipulating his troupe of mortals and immortals and bringing the truths and myths of Shadowbridge equally to life.” Publisher’s Weekly, reviewing Lord Tophet

Merry Jones has been writing since she was old enough to hold a pencil. “If I don’t write,” she says, “over time, I get agitated and irritable, as if energy is building up inside and I have to let it out.” Accordingly, over the years, she has written a wide range of material, in a variety of styles and for diverse media. All of Merry’s work deals with inter-personal relationships, particularly their unanticipated aspects.

Solomon Jones is the Essence bestselling author of the critically acclaimed novels C.R.E.A.M., The Bridge, Ride or Die, and Pipe Dream, and the short story collection Keeping Up With The Jones’. He is a columnist for the Philadelphia Daily News, and a spoken-word artist whose debut CD is titled “Wisdom”. Jones teaches creative writing at Temple University.

“If you are tired of all unrealistic CSI shows and books and are looking for an author that delivers realistic crime scene and investigative procedures, then D.H. Dublin is the author you are seeking… Freezer Burn… is better forensically than any book I’ve read by Kathy Reichs or Patricia Cornwell. There are two previous books in this series and I hope there are many more to come.” – Mary Menzel, bookhuntersblog.com

Edward Pettit is the Philly Poe Guy. He’s also a freelance writer, book reviewer, film presenter, professor and literary provocateur. He teaches writing at La Salle University in Philadelphia and is a member of the National Book Critics Circle, the Mystery Writers of America and the Philly Liars Club.

Kelly Simmons is a former journalist and current novelist/advertising creative director. As president of bubble advertising, she is one of the most award-winning advertising writers on the East Coast, and the only gender marketing expert in the Mid-Atlantic. Standing Still is her first published novel.

Dennis Tafoya writes a fast, quirky, and thoroughly twisted tale of corruption, heroism, and redemption that will leave its mark on you.” – Jonathan Maberry, multiple Bram Stoker Award-winning author of Patient Zero
