Phyllis Voren’s “What’s Funny About That”
An Evening of Subversive comedy with – Like you Don’t Need A Laugh
Headliner: MARY RADZINSKI was one of three featured comedians on CBS Channel 3 “Talk Philly” April 2011, and was also featured in Philadelphia Weekly’s cover story, “Funny Females of Philadelphia”. She is a co-host of weekly open mic, “Laughs on Fairmount”, and is just back from the 2012 North Carolina Comedy Festival.
Featuring: PHYLLIS VOREN has entertained U.S. troops in the Arctic Circle; performed in a Ritz Crackers commercial with Andy Griffith; done improv at The Comedy Store in L.A. and was a regular performer at Dangerfields c.c. in NY. she was named Philadelphia’s Funniest Jewish Comic at, what was then, Funnybones on South Street. (and has played in clubs and colleges throughout the US. After a 20 year hiatus, she’s back doing what she loves most, comedy!
Featuring:OLIVER YU grew up in Brooklyn, move to Philly for college, developed an unhealthy co-dependent relationship with this city and has never been able to leave. I enjoy milkshakes, coffee, and sandwiches. I’ve been doing standup for a little over a year trying to produce something nourishing on stage because I’m terrible in the kitchen. I recently joined a newly formed Philadelphia based sketch group: Kids With Rickets.
Featuring: MIKE LOGAN is a 23 year old single guy living in the city that sleeps on a futon, eats shitty food, and drink excessive amounts of whiskey. Whether you relate to him or look down on him, youre probably going to laugh at him. Probably.
Host: JAY WEST is a relative newcomer to the stand-up comedy scene, though he has been hosting comedy podacasts over the last 3 years (Eclectic Shock, The Donkey Show). He currently hosts a Monthly show (Comedy: Period) and a weekly open mic (Jay West Like’s Comedy and Connies Ric Rac). His comedy tends to come from life experience, and the sick thoughts that run through his head every day…
