Veronica Kegel-Giglio and Sandra Carey Cody
Writing and Selling Mystery and Horror
This workshop explores the differences between writing mystery stories vs. horror stories. This hands on workshop can help you get started on writing a story in this category and learning how to present it to a publisher. Hands on exercises and questions and discussion will follow (1Hr presentation). Presented by Veronica Kegel-Giglio and Sandy Cody
Veronica Kegel-Giglio has loved writing novels and short stories since age ten, especially scary stories. She is the author of six novels in print and numerous short stories for adults and children. Her latest is Claw and Fang Tooth and Nail. Her poetry has been published in the Philadelphia Tribune, and many of her children’s works have been published in Spanish and English in EL TIEMPO HISPANO of Delaware, USA. She loves traveling and sailing with her husband Larry. Her son Robby also shares her love of horror movies and paranormal stories. She believes that all good stories (no matter what genre) have to have mystery and a real bad guy. When she is not working as a school administrator or on another novel, she is busy teaching creative writing.. She has also served as treasurer for Valley Forge Romance Writers and on the planning board for a local chapter of The Sisters in Crime mystery writing network.
Sandra Carey Cody grew up in Missouri and now lives in Bucks County, Pennsylvania. She is the author of the Jennie Connors mysteries, a series which takes place in a retirement community where the residents are mobile, alert, and just bored enough to welcome a little excitement in their lives. If this involves helping Activities Director Jennie solve the occasional murder … well, that’s a lot more fun than bingo. The books explore the challenges facing a single mother as she learns to balance independence with family and career responsibilities. Her most recent novel, Love and Not Destroy, examines the ways in which destiny is shaped by family secrets. It is set in a museum of antique tools and folk art in a small town near Philadelphia.
