Deborah Fries and Lynn Levin
Deborah Fries is a native of Bedford, Pennsylvania, who currently lives in Elkins Park. The Bright Field of Everything is her second book of poetry. Named Poet Laureate of Montgomery County, Pennsylvania by Galway Kinnell in 2006, she is the recipient of a Leeway Foundation grant, and several national poetry awards, including a James Hearst Poetry Prize and the 2013 Sandy Crimmins Poetry Prize. Her first book of poetry, Various Modes of Departure, was selected by Carolyn Forché as a Kore Press First Book Winner. Her poems in the Kore Press anthology Powder: Writing from Women in the Ranks, Vietnam to Iraq were nominated for a Pushcart Prize.
Lynn Levin is the author of four collections of poems, most recently Miss Plastique (Ragged Sky Press, 2013), which has garnered rave reviews from The Philadelphia Inquirer, Rain Taxi, Rattle, The Rumpus, Cleaver, and other places. She is co-author of the craft-of-poetry textbook Poems for the Writing: Prompts for Poets (Texture Press, 2013) and translator from the Spanish of Birds on the Kiswar Tree (2Leaf Press, 2014), a collection of poems by the Peruvian poet Odi Gonzales. Lynn Levin teaches at the University of Pennsylvania and Drexel University. Her poetry, prose, and translations have appeared in Michigan Quarterly Review, Boulevard, Ploughshares, The Hopkins Review, Cleaver, and Per Contra.
