The Resistance Lecture Series with Ewuare Osayande
Creator, host and producer of the internet radio sensation “The Resistance with Ewuare Osayande” brings a lecture series to the Moonstone Arts Center that promises to incite “riots of consciousness.” With the mind of a scholar and the heart of an activist, Ewuare X. Osayande brings a passionate and informed discourse on the issues that shape our reality. Each month, Osayande will give a timely presentation that seeks to fill the void left by mainstream media’s failure to report the whole truth. From global to local concerns, from race, gender and class to culture and religion, Osayande treats them all with the sincerity and commitment that is his hallmark. Ewuare X. Osayande is a political activist, cultural analyst, poet and professor. The author of several books, Osayande’s forthcoming book is entitled Fighting Words: 20 Years of Literary Resistance that will collect both published and unpublished writings by Osayande. Dr. Wayne Glasker, Director of the African American Studies Program at Rutgers University in Camden, NJ states that “Ewuare Osayande’s work is brilliant and compelling. A powerful voice in the tradition of David Walker, Frederick Douglass and Malcolm X.” Lewis R. Gordon, Laura H. Carnell Professor of Philosophy at Temple University calls Osayande: “Passionate, provocative, evocative, insightful and always truthful, Osayande’s work stands as one of the best examples of prophetic criticism that speaks . to anyone interested in the struggle for human liberation.” Osayande currently teaches History and African American Studies at Rutgers University.
