Moonstone believes that learning is a life-long activity,

and that art stimulates both cognitive and affect at all ages. Moonstone was founded in 1981, with the motto Education Through the Arts from Cradle to Grave. While literature is at the center of Moonstone’s programing, we believe that ART, in all its forms, is more than enrichment: it affects how one thinks, sees, interprets, describes, meets life and functions in society. Our main interest is how art interacts with us, both as individuals and as a society. The Arts Center produces about 100 programs, mostly poetry readings and publishes about 30 books a year. We believe that everyone should have a voice, and design our programs to include people from different ethnicities, ages, genders, people who express themselves using different forms.
