Moonstone Poetry Series Presents Mentor and Mentored

An intergenerational poetry series that presents both the mentor and the mentored: how does poetry travel from generation to generation, what are the themes, the sounds, what changes and what stays the same. You are invited to be part of the audience as the program is videotaped.

patmcleanPat McLean, a performance poet and teaching artist who has facilitated workshops at Temple University’s Pan-African Studies Community Education Program, for the Mastery and Universal Charter Schools, The Department of Human Services, The United Way and others, she is a teaching artist with the Woodmere Art Museum and the Philadelphia Department of Parks and Recreation. Pat is the author of A Sister Speaks of, Ain’t Gonna Bite My Tongue No More and Healing Her Hurts and has received awards from the Sonia Sanchez/Audre Lorde Poetry Competition and the Leeway Foundation and Community College. christinaatkinsonChristina “Khrystle” Atkinson is a trained paraprofessional who specializes in business law, a licensed PA notary and a passionate entrepreneur who launched “Khrystle’s Luv N’ Care Services”.  Ms. Atkinson has always loved to write publishing her first poem in 1989. She has had the privilege of studying under Pat McLean in the PASCEP Program at Temple University. She is currently pursuing a certificate in Creative Writing from Community College of Philadelphia and also her Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education.

 

alipadillaAlida L. Padilla (aka as Poetic Ali) was born and raised in North Philadelphia, PA.  As a Puerto Rican American Latina, Ali uses her love for spoken and written word to express her individual “spanglish” style and cultural experiences.  Writing since a young girl, Ali has performed her poetry, and also has several poems printed into circulation through various media. She continues to be involved in community work throughout Philadelphia, and aspires to continue to write, perform and advocate for the community she serves.
